All Rhythm Plan rhythm section grooves consist of a repetitive 1,2 or 4 bar sequence that can be easily looped to allow for unlimited practice time. The sequences are designed to provide a practical setting within which to practise groove playing as well as improvisation. Some sequences contain bass and drum parts of differing length, a characteristic often present in contemporary music: For example a one bar drum part might be accompanied by a two bar bass part.) Having a looped sequence to practise with allows a freedom that is hard to achieve when playing along to structured compositions. Rhythm Plan groove play alongs allow for a simpler and freer approach to rhythm section practice allowing for heightened focus on the foundational grooves that underpin the many genres. Performance Pieces

Rhythm Plan compositions present a format within which to practice various musical styles along with an accompanying chart. Some of the compositions come with a complete transcription style chart for the purpose of reading and playing note for note the musical content. Other compositions will come with a “sketch” chart allowing the player to gain experience using a less formal approach to reading and playing in styles that require stylistic interpretation. Musical charts can exist in a variety of forms and styles. By presenting these two distinctly different approach’s to chart reading and performance, Rhythm Plan offers the student the opportunity to gain experience within these two distinct categories of chart reading.
